Acting President Major (retd) Md Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has summoned the third session of the 13th parliament to begin on August 27, according to a notice issued by the parliamentary secretariat’s Legislative Support Wing on Tuesday.
A notice issued by the wing said the acting president convened the session under Article 72(1) of the Constitution. The session will open at 3 pm in the parliament chamber of the National Parliament Bhaban in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
A parliamentary source said the business advisory committee would meet before the session to fix its length.
The second session of the current parliament, during which the budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year was announced, ended on July 15 after beginning on June 7.
The 13th national election was held on February 12. The government was subsequently formed on February 17 and the first parliamentary session took place in early March.
