At least four people were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway in Daudkandi Upazila of Cumilla after a bus rammed into an autorickshaw and a motorcycle. The incident occurred on Friday (January 9) afternoon.

According to police, all four victims were passengers of the bus, including two children. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately. Several others were injured and taken to different hospitals.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police Station, Iqbal Bahar Majumder, said it is suspected that the collision caused a fire to break out from the motorcycle’s fuel tank, which quickly spread and engulfed the bus.

Upon receiving the report, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Four bodies were recovered from the scene. The identities of the deceased remain unknown, and the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
