Sub-Working Group, a Japanese company, submitted its proposal on Tuesday to the headquarters of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) for operating and maintaining the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

Masahiro Hirai submitted the proposal on behalf of the Japanese company to CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq. Other CAAB members and representatives of the Japanese delegation were also present at the event.

At the time of submission, the Japanese company submitted separate documents containing its technical and financial proposals. The proposals will be evaluated through the prescribed procedure by the RFP Evaluation Committee formed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The evaluation committee includes representatives from CAAB’s member (administration), member (operations and planning), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority and the Roads and Highways Department.

As part of the evaluation process, the technical proposal will be evaluated first, followed by the financial proposal. After the evaluation, necessary discussions and negotiations will be conducted. The date for signing the agreement will then be finalised following the prescribed procedure.

The HSIA’s third terminal is one of the largest and most important infrastructure projects in Bangladesh’s aviation sector. The project is expected to play an important role in strengthening the country’s aviation sector and bringing it up to international standards through modern technology, international-standard passenger services and efficient operational management.
