Two more children died with symptoms of measles across the country over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 866 children were affected by confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its measles situation report released on Tuesday.
In total, 625 children have died with measles-like symptoms nationwide since March 15, according to the report. In addition, 93 children have died after being confirmed to have contracted measles.
Over the past 24 hours, 114 new cases of measles were laboratory confirmed. 866 children were also identified with measles-like symptoms. Of those affected, 821 children were admitted to hospitals, while 781 were discharged after completing treatment.
The total number of suspected measles cases recorded in the country since March 15 has reached 101,077, according to DGHS data. Of these, 11,965 cases have been laboratory confirmed as measles.
At the same time, a total of 84,627 patients were admitted to hospitals. Among them, 80,974 have recovered and been discharged.
