Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday handed appointment letters to members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings, as well as families of martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.

The prime minister personally handed the letters to 10 of the 74 recipients at a ceremony at Karabi Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon this afternoon.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said 74 people from families affected by enforced disappearances and killings and the July uprising had received appointment letters. The prime minister personally presented letters to 10 of them.

Those who received letters from the prime minister included Ishfaq Ahmed, brother of missing Iftekhar Ahmed Dinar; Moniruzzaman Hira, brother of Nuruzzaman Jony; Anan Hossain Noor, brother of Anwar Hossain Mahbub; Hasnain Reza, brother of Selim Reza Pintu; and Shammi Sultana, wife of Khaled Hossain Sohel.

Recipients from the July Mass Uprising included injured July fighter Alal Ahmed, who lost his eyesight; Md Abul Hossain, father of martyr Alvi; Jartaj Parvin, mother of martyr Ahnaf; injured fighter Kazi Saimum Siraj; and Mahbub Alam, brother of martyr Israfil Islam.

The recipients thanked the prime minister for providing the jobs and called for justice for those responsible for enforced disappearances and killings.

Family members affected by enforced disappearances and killings, along with injured persons, spoke and shared their feelings with the prime minister at the programme. Atikur Rahman Ruman, who is also convener of Amra BNP Paribar, conducted the event.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, PM’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, Deputy Press Secretaries Jahidul Islam Rony and Hasan Shiplu, Md Suzauddhowla (Sujan Mahmud), Shahadat Shadhin, Assistant Press Secretary AKM Nazmul Haque, Gazi Shahriar Pamir and members of BNP Amar Paribar, including Mokshedul Momin Mithun, were present.
