SSC, equivalent results to be published on July 20: Edu Minister

All relevant officials have received final instructions to complete evaluation and publish results simultaneously.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said on Monday that Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examination results will be published on July 20, as the government moves to compress a bloated academic calendar that forces students to spend extra years completing their education, the state news agency BSS reported.

All relevant officials have received final instructions to complete evaluation and publish results simultaneously, the minister told a press conference at the education ministry in Dhaka.

The direction is part of a broader effort to eliminate so-called session jams that delay graduation across the school and university system.

“A lot of time is wasted in our students’ lives because of session jams. Where studies are supposed to be finished by 18, many are crossing 20,” Milon said. The country had to stop such wastage, he added, to make full use of its demographic dividend.

The minister warned that higher education institutions would be held to fixed timelines. Three-year degree courses must be completed within three years and five-year programmes within five years. “No waiting session or delay will be tolerated,” he said.

Milon said the government had drafted a plan to sit the next SSC examinations from January 7 to February 8, 2027, with syllabuses to be completed by June 2026. The proposal emerged from talks with stakeholders, he said, though a final decision would be taken after further consultations with students, teachers and guardians.
