Sarwar Hossain appointed deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank

Md Sarwar Hossain has been appointed as deputy governor under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972.

The government appointed Md Sarwar Hossain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, as a deputy governor of the central bank. He has been appointed on a three-year contractual basis, subject to his voluntary retirement from his current position and the suspension of his post-retirement leave (PRL).

Md Sarwar Hossain has been appointed as deputy governor under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972, according to a notification issued on Tuesday by the Central Bank Branch of the Financial Institutions Division under the finance ministry. His three-year contractual term will commence from the date he assumes office. The notification states that the remaining terms and conditions of his appointment will be specified in a separate contract. The order has been issued in the public interest and takes immediate effect.

Md Sarwar Hossain is currently serving as an executive director of Bangladesh Bank. With his appointment as deputy governor, he joins the central bank’s senior management team.
