The Inspector General of Police has told newly trained officers that securing public safety, upholding law and order, and delivering justice constitute their primary duty as crime patterns shift rapidly.
Md Ali Hossain Fakir was addressing the parade of the 41st assistant sub-inspector cadet batch at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi.
“The nature of crime is changing fast worldwide,” the IGP said. “Competence and awareness are essential to tackle technology-driven crime, cybercrime and militancy.”
He urged the new officers to apply their training and continuously modernise their skills.
He told the trainees they were not merely joining a job but entering a service profession. “You must stand by people, assist them in danger and work with the values of establishing justice,” he said.
Maintaining professionalism, discipline and patriotism would preserve the force’s reputation, he added.
