Islamic University forms panel to probe teacher’s murder

The panel is tasked with examining the actual circumstances surrounding the brutal murder and submitting a report with necessary recommendations.

Islamic University authorities have formed a five-member committee to investigate the killing of Asma Sadia Runa, head of the social welfare department and an assistant professor, who was found dead in her office.

The order was issued from the registrar’s office on Saturday, tasking the panel with examining the actual circumstances surrounding the brutal murder and submitting a report with necessary recommendations.

Professor Mizanoor Rahman from the accounting and information systems department has been named convener of the probe body. Deputy registrar (academic) Golam Mowla will serve as member-secretary.

Other members are Professor Rashiduzzaman from the Bengali department, Professor Obaidul Islam, a student adviser, and Professor Gazi Arifuzzaman Khan, provost of Lalon Shah Hall.

The university administration said the committee would investigate the incident expeditiously and submit its findings.
