Police in Meherpur seized a lorry while it was illegally unloading fuel, reportedly containing 4,500 litres of diesel.

The seizure took place in the Shahebnagar Bazar area of Gangni upazila around 2:30 am on Thursday night.

Sub-Inspector Abdul Karim of Gangni Police Station confirmed the incident.

He reported that the lorry, with the registration number Jhenaidah-Dha 41-0043, was transporting diesel from the Khulna depot to Goal village in Daulatpur Upazila, Kushtia. However, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid while the fuel was being illegally unloaded at a fertilizer and pesticide shop owned by a businessman named Ripon in Shahebnagar Bazar.

Abdul Karim stated that the lorry driver failed to produce valid documentation. The vehicle and its cargo were seized and taken into police custody. Legal proceedings will be initiated following a thorough verification of the documents.
