A court imposed a travel embargo on former director general (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Maj Gen (retd) Md Shafeenul Islam and his wife Soma Islam this Thursday (March 13).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC, in its plea, said the commission is probing allegations that the former BGB DG amassed illegal wealth through misuse of power and other types of corruption. At this stage, the two accused can flee the country to evade justice, and that is why a travel ban should be imposed on them.
