Nahid Islam

New Bangladesh requires fascist’s trial, fundamental reform, new constitution

The NCP convener said, “Our struggle is for a new Bangladesh, to rebuild Bangladesh as an equal, democratic, extortion-free, terror-free, and corruption-free nation.”

Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has said that Bangladesh needs to try those involved with fascism, implement fundamental reforms, and adopt a new constitution to rebuild the country.

He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon (July 10) during the “July March to Build the Nation” rally held in Vaynarmore, Magura. Earlier, NCP leaders and activists marched through major roads in Magura city.

“We have come to Magura and are visiting every district with a message,” Nahid Islam said. “The struggle to rebuild Bangladesh started after the July people’s uprising. To build this Bangladesh anew, those involved with fascism must be tried, fundamental reforms must take place, and a new constitution is needed.”

He added, “Despite the mass uprising, the crises in Bangladesh remain. We are unable to work toward a new constitution, and there is still a deadlock over the July Charter for fundamental reforms. We want to tell the people of Magura, raise your voice.”

Nahid Islam urged, “You must speak out against the development issues and ongoing extortion and land grabbing in your area. About 10 martyrs fell in the July uprising in Magura. We all must honor the blood of those children together.”

The NCP convener said, “Our struggle is for a new Bangladesh, to rebuild Bangladesh as an equal, democratic, extortion-free, terror-free, and corruption-free nation. Our struggle is not over. We have come to deliver that message. We are on the streets.”

Present at the rally were central leaders including NCP’s chief organizer for the northern region Sarjis Alam, southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah, senior joint secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara, joint chief organizers Advocate Shakil Ahmed and Sadia Farzana Neela. After the rally, NCP leaders headed toward Narail.
