Metro rail and intercity trains across the country resumed operations on Tuesday (April 1) after a one-day break for Eid. Both modes of public transport started running as per their scheduled times.
According to the schedule, the first metro rail trip departed from Uttara North Station at 7:10 am towards Motijheel, while the first train from Motijheel left for Uttara North Station at 7:30 am.
Meanwhile, according to Dhaka Railway Station sources, the first intercity train of the day after Eid, Parjatak Express, departed for Cox’s Bazar at 6:15 am.
Earlier, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) had announced that metro rail services would be suspended only on Eid day, but operations would continue as usual on other days.
Before Eid, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain stated in an inter-ministerial meeting that intercity train services would remain suspended nationwide on Eid day. However, all weekly train holidays were canceled before Eid, and the regular schedule would resume afterward.
