The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over 60 Bangladeshi nationals to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through the Kathuli and Kazipur border points in Meherpur’s Gangni Upazila on Saturday (October 25).

According to BGB sources, the handover took place following two separate flag meetings between the two border forces at noon.

The returnees are residents of Kurigram and Thakurgaon districts. They had crossed into India illegally through brokers in search of work, but were later detained by Indian police and subsequently transferred to the BSF for repatriation.

Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bani Israil said the identities and home addresses of the 60 returnees are being verified before they are handed over to their families.
