The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), including its Chairperson Tarique Rahman, has secured sweeping victories unofficially in all seven parliamentary constituencies in Bogura district. BNP candidates had been confident of success from the outset of polling.
Following the completion of voting and counting on Thursday (February 12), Bogura District Returning Officer Md Toufiqur Rahman said polling and vote counting concluded peacefully. According to the results, BNP candidates won all seven seats.
In Bogura-6, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman won with 216,284 votes under the “paddy sheaf” symbol. His nearest rival, Abidur Rahman, contesting with the “scales” symbol, received 97,626 votes. A total of 317,489 voters cast ballots at 150 centres in the constituency, with turnout recorded at 71.3 percent.
In Bogura-1 (Sariakandi–Sonatala), BNP candidate Kazi Rafiqul Islam was elected with 169,861 votes. His closest competitor, Md Shahabuddin (scales symbol), secured 56,933 votes.
In Bogura-2 (Shibganj), BNP candidate Mir Shahe Alam won with 145,024 votes, while Jamaat candidate Maulana Shahadatuzzaman received 93,548 votes.
In Bogura-3 (Dupchanchia–Adamdighi), BNP candidate Abdul Mohit Talukder was unofficially declared elected with 127,406 votes. His nearest rival, Noor Mohammad (scales symbol), secured 111,026 votes.
In Bogura-4 (Kahaloo–Nandigram), BNP candidate Mosharraf Hossain was unofficially elected with 155,339 votes. Jamaat candidate Mostafa Faisal received 108,978 votes.
In Bogura-5 (Sherpur–Dhunot), BNP’s GM Siraj won with 248,841 votes, defeating Jamaat candidate Dabbibur Rahman, who secured 143,329 votes.
In Bogura-7 (Gabtali–Shajahanpur), BNP candidate Morshed Milton was elected with 262,501 votes. His nearest rival, Golam Rabbani (scales symbol), received 115,184 votes.
