36,924 vehicles crossed, BDT 40M collected in tolls

The Dhaka-Mawa Expressway and the Padma Bridge are bustling with homebound travelers heading to southern Bangladesh for Eid. In the past 24 hours, a total of 36,924 vehicles crossed the bridge, generating BDT 40.79 million in tolls. Abu Sayad, the Executive Engineer of the Padma Bridge Site Office, confirmed the information to Bonik Barta.

He shared that on Saturday (March 29), a total of 24,305 vehicles crossed from the Mawa end, while 12,619 vehicles traveled from the Jajira end. Among them, 8,755 were motorcycles.

Abu Sayad also mentioned that vehicle movement has been steady since Sunday morning (March 30), and there is no congestion. Measures are in place to ensure smooth traffic flow. Toll collection is ongoing at eight booths—two dedicated to motorcycles and six for other vehicles. Additionally, a temporary toll booth has been set up for motorcycles.

Notably, on Friday (March 28), 39,637 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge within 24 hours, generating BDT 42.54 million in tolls.
